Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of murdered Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi, has made serious allegations against his sister-in-law and prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, claiming her recent surrender was staged and that more than five people are involved in the crime.
Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Vipin accused Sonam of orchestrating a false surrender and hiding her links with key suspects. “She called her brother and claimed she was dropped off by someone. But we found she came by bus with two others. It was all staged. We believe there are more than five people involved. This was not just her act,” he said.
Vipin also alleged that Sonam’s mother concealed crucial facts from the family, including the alleged affair between Sonam and co-accused Raj Kushwaha. “If her father or brother knew about Raj, they would’ve thrown him out of their factory. Her mother knew everything and hid it from us,” he claimed.
Raja and Sonam had recently travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon when Raja was allegedly murdered by contract killers reportedly hired by Sonam. His body was later recovered in the state. Sonam and several associates have since been arrested.
On Monday and Tuesday, four accused — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand — were granted seven-day transit remand and will be taken to Shillong for further investigation.
Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya said, “Anand, the fourth accused, is from Indore and a friend of Raj. None of the four have a prior criminal record. Raj worked as an accountant at Sonam’s office, while Vishal and Anand are students and Akash is unemployed.”
Meghalaya Police had earlier arrested Sonam from a location near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur road. After medical formalities, she was granted three-day transit remand and is being transported to Shillong.
According to Meghalaya SIT Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, Raja sustained two head injuries, as revealed by the post-mortem report. The case continues to unfold with police searching for at least one more suspect.
